Dinner at Kushi-tei in Düsseldorf

After yesterdays language class, me and two friends took the train to Düsseldorf, where we wanted to eat fine Japanese food. We arrived there at noon and first went to the “Don” restaurant, where we had lunch.

Before going to Bochum, I had wanted to have a Tonkatsu-Party with a friend in Freiburg, but for weeks we couldn’t agree on a date, where we both had time. So, in order to stop my craving for tasty Katsu, I took the chance and ordered Katsu-Don. :) It was a nice start for the day, but because I often suddenly get hungry, I bought an “emergency Onigiri” at a small Japanese shop right next to the Don. It turned out, that there would be enough food on this day, but you can never know before ^^

After lunch, we walked around Düsseldorf, had nice Oolong tea at the Shennong Tea House and finally went for dinner at the “Kushi-tei of Tokyo” restaurant. We did reserve a table, which turned out to be a necessity, because people were already waiting in line for a seat. :) As I couldn’t read the menu card (what’s worse than Kanji? Stylishly hand-written Kanji…), I relied on the recommendations of my friend Haruka. He ordered 芥子レンコン、スタミナ冷や奴、あさり、たこ焼き、焼き鳥 and 鍋焼きうどん。

I had an oishii Asahi beer first, but later we changed to the real thing: Sake. Kanpei! :D All in all, it was a really nice evening, full of tasty Japanese food and quality time with my friends. I’m already looking forward to living with them in Tokyo!
